So David Cameron might be pushing to disband with the EU, but that would bring politics into The Eurovision Song Contest, and that’s never happened before has it!
All politics aside (if you can), Eurovision is still celebrated across Europe by millions, with an evening of parties and celebrations while we sit infront of the telly box judging a whole country on one single sole performer giving their all by belting out a pop dubstep, post-punk Enya infussed with Iron Maiden style tune! And if that sounds ludicruos then cast your minds back to 2006 when Monster Rock outfit ‘Lordi’ shunned by winning with their song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. So you could say that stranger things might happen, but what delights are on offer this year? Well here are our ones to watch out for!
Denmark are the favourites with Emmelie de Forest hotly tipped to take the top spot, with Norway and Ukraine close behind the Danes in the tense battle for the win! Included in the running are mid-noughties ‘From Paris To Berlin’ dance troup Cascada who are representing Germany and if you just said aloud “But that can’t be topped!?!”, well yes it can, for the UK we have Bonnie Tyler, unfortunatley not belting out Total Eclipse Of The Heart, but instead bringing a country and western vibe, so all in all it should be a very interesting night!
The Eurovision Song Contest is broadcast on Saturday 18th May, BBC One at 8PM.
Here is Bonnie to play us out…
